In what has to be a Malaysian first, satellite TV provider Astro will be boradcasting an international e-sports tournament live to local nerds gaming fans.
The International Dota 2 Championships, which this year offers a USD17.65 million (RM67.2 million) prize pool, is a major global e-sports event that attracts professional gaming teams from all over the world.

Dota (which stands for Defence of the Ancients) is a competitive multiplayer arena game, in which players control squads of mystical warriors and pit them against rival teams. We would get into more detail, but frankly we have actual lives, and don’t play Dota 2 as much as we’d like. (Also, we’re not good at Dota 2. #jelly)
Speaking of #jelly, LowYat.net reports that taking part in the 16-team slugfest will be Team Fnatic, comprised of Malaysian players led by team captain and international Dota 2 superstar Mushi.

Astro will be airing live broadcasts of this year’s championships from the Keyarena in Seattle, from August 4 to 9 from 1am daily. Broadcasts will be aired on Astro Supersport Channel 808, and will also be available for the Astro GO mobile service.
