Malaysian badminton legend Lee Chong Wei has appeared on the small screen thousands of times, and now, he is all set for the big screen.
Several major Chinese dailies reported that a movie based on the life of the Olympics silver medalist is currently in the works.
The movie, titled ‘Rise of the Legend’, will reportedly focus on Chong Wei’s rise from an unknown shuttler to world number one.
The biopic will also reportedly follow the love story between the 33-year-old and his wife, former national shuttler Wong Mew Choo.
The director of the film, Teng Bee, told the dailies that auditions for the film will commence in December.
But the million dollar question is: will we see Chong Wei in the movie?
“We are still convincing Lee to appear in the movie,” the director was quoted as saying.
Not only that, Teng told the dailies that they are also trying to convince some of Chong Wei’s best friends such as Indonesia’s Taufik Hidayat and China’s Lin Dan to appear in the film.
The film, according to Teng, is slated for a 2018 release.
