Fans of Hong Kong dramas in Malaysia will be familiar with TVB, the channel that has brought us many Cantonese dramas in the past decades, such as the aviation series Triumph in the Skies, and medical drama The Hippocratic Crush.
Months after launching its free mobile streaming platform in Malaysia, mainly consisting of older shows, TVB today announced that it would be introducing fresher shows at a price of RM4.90 (US$1.20) a month under its “lite” plan. Those who sign up before the end of the year gets a free six months trial on its TVBAnwhere+ app.
“With the current pandemic forcing a slowdown on the economy, we would like to show our support by making our content easily accessible for our online audiences in Malaysia,” assistant general manager Terrence Yau said.
Over 10,000 hours of content are up on the app, which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. One particular drama Malaysians can look forward to is The Impossible 3, which aired its first episode last Thursday. The drama features several scenes in the Klang Valley, including Sunway Lagoon and Petaling Street. Jovanne Phang, Malaysian actress and 2018 winner of Miss Astro Chinese International Pageant, also stars in the action-packed comedy alongside A-List Hong Kong celebs like Bosco Wong, Moses Chan and Cheung Chi-lam.
