Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens might be half a year away, but Malaysian Jedis (and Siths, we guess) will always have a little bit of that far, faraway galaxy from a long, long time ago … courtesy of kickass photographer and image manipulator Zahir Batin.

Using his impressive collection of Star Wars toys, action figures, and scale models, Zahir has managed to imbue the sleepy countryside of Tanjung Karang, Selangor with galaxy-shaking scenes of Imperial and Rebel dogfights, Ewoks, and even a lightsaber duel or two.

The intrepid photo artist juxtaposes humdrum kampung life with intergalactic conflict often with the simplest methods: multiple exposures of landscapes and toys held up by hand or wire, with colour corrections and airbrushing the wires out after the fact. Just like Goerge Lucas’s original trilogy, it seems the old ways work best.

Now go bullseye some womprats on your T-16 before Maghrib.
