COCONUTS HOT SPOT — Billed as the very first Magnum pleasure store in the world (we Malaysians are really privileged, aren’t we?), the Magnum Kuala Lumpur was officially opened in December 2014.
Ever since then, thousands of pleasure seekers have been thrilled and satiated when indulging within the plush confines of this cafe.
If you have a sweet tooth and have a penchant for ice-cream, this is the place to go. Pandering to cold sweet cravings of ice cream lovers, this 4,200sq ft pleasure store spans across two floors.
I love its contemporary, classy and artistic interior with splashes of colours brightening the place. It’s the perfect venue to hangout – there are quiet corners for more private indulgence and then there are the more spacious areas for bigger parties.
The main draws of Magnum Kuala Lumpur are their two infinity bars where you can customize your own Magnum. Basically, you get to choose the flavour, coating and toppings for your own personalised Magnum! We went quite crazy with this, pitting our creative culinary preferences against each other.
On the a la carte menu, there are plated ice-cream based desserts to indulge in.
Magnum Vogue is a dreamy Magnum vanilla ice cream coated with silky white chocolate, served with lots of caramelised almonds, almond milk crumble and Magnum white chocolate mousse. Yes, it’s a white affair, very rich and very satisfying. At the moment it’s only available during weekends.
Feel like celebrating? Have the Magnum Celebration even if there is no reason to celebrate simply because this is such a happy presentation. It’s bound to cheer up the foulest mood – the happiest rainbow chocolate cake, topped with a Magnum vanilla ice cream coated with luscious dark chocolate complete with rainbow sprinkles and a candle for that special occasion.
Even if there’s no occasion, just blow the candle and have fun!
For the adventurous, try the Magnum Cheese Crepe which is a bit more funky. In fact, it may even be an “acquired taste” targeted at those who like savoury-sweet combos.
This concoction is a combination of assorted cheeses served with a fresh savoury crepe, Magnum vanilla ice cream, dark chocolate drizzle and fresh yoghurt decorated with imported fresh berries. For added crunch and flavours, there’s granola and beef bacon crisps, tossed basil leaves and all these served with a generous portion of maple syrup.
Ice cream, in all its forms and presentations, is a sure hit with the young and old. It is the perfect party focus as not many can resist it.
