If you have extra cash lying around and feeling peckish for a gilded burger, the Banyan Tree hotel in Kuala Lumpur confirmed with Coconuts KL today that it is indeed flipping the luxurious meal at a whopping RM460 (US$110).
Inspired by an expensive birthday drama that happened earlier this week, the “The Real 460 Golden Burger” comes with truffle-flavored buns and genuine 24K gold leaves. The towering burger also contains Wagyu beef patty, foie gras, veal bacon, sunny-side-up eggs, fermented cucumbers, cheddar cheese, red onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and fruity apple compote.
The idea of the luxe burger came about after a man named Jhun Bin complained about having to spend six times more than what he had ordered at a recent birthday party after his friends decided to split the hefty bill worth RM3,679 equally. All he ordered that night was an RM88 burger, but came home RM460 poorer. He also covered the birthday girl’s portion of the bill.
Looks like the hotel had decided to capitalize on the buzzing story, because why not? A representative from the hotel confirmed that it now has a RM460 burger on the menu and will offer it to guests on a reservation basis throughout October. Diners will receive two glasses of wine on the house, which makes sense since they’re paying so much.
