So, what is this famed Beggar’s Chicken?
In this episode of Instakitchen KL, Coconuts TV travelled to Ampang in Selangor to visit the popular New Heong Kee Restaurant, known for its delectable beggar’s chicken specialty.

Customers to this restaurant have to make their reservations a day in advance, and it makes complete sense — it takes an entire day to prepare this Chinese delicacy.
The bird is first wrapped in wax paper, which is then completely covered with mud. It is then buried in charcoal oven and left to cook for at least six hours.

The result? New Heong Kee’s Phyllis Ng explains the story behind this moist, delicious chicken dish and how it’s made.
