COCONUTS HOT SPOT — Bofe has made quite a name for itself amongst the residents in Section 19 and SS2 of Petaling Jaya. I popped by one weekday evening to find out why and was pleasantly surprised by how busy it was.
There’s a definite air of homeliness in its interior, with comfortable seating, warm lighting and a cosy reading corner at the front of the cafe. The menu listed a line-up of simple comfort food which turned out to be tasty and well-executed.
The owners of Bofe have obviously put a lot of thoughts into their dishes with careful consideration for healthy options and not-too-complicated execution.
Prices were very reasonable too. Their starters range from RM8.90-RM11.90 per dish. Starters like Paprika Chicken Soba, Duck Salad Wraps and Crispy Crab Bites were all simple dishes which would please many.
A hit with most customers was Bofe’s Goma Smoked Duck Breast which was a delicious assembly of pan-fried smoked duck breast resting on mashed potato and drizzled with roasted sesame dressing.

It’s a very simple dish but the flavours all blend well together and that umami tender smoked duck breast was so good we ordered a 2nd serving!
Bofe’s Lamb Shank was huge and meant for 2 persons – don’t even attempt this if you are dining alone. The Moroccan-influenced style of braising the lamb had made it really tender and it’s served with a hearty gravy and wholesome mash. For smaller eaters, it can even be shared among 3 people.

Pasta lovers can’t go wrong with the Softshell Crab Pasta. A whole deep-fried crumbed soft-shell crab was served on top of a bed of rich creamy pasta. The sweet crunch from the crab paired well with the al dente spaghetti.

Bofe also serves Set Lunches which come with coffee/tea/ice lemon tea and dessert.
Their beverage menu listed choices of coffee, tea, bottled beer, sodas and healthy freshly blended fruit juices. There’s also a modest selection of home-baked cakes at the counter. I had their Nutcracker and Snickers Cheesecake, both of which were really good.
