All the seafood you’ll ever want is at Cyberjaya’s Crab Hut

COCONUTS HOT SPOT — Living in Malaysia, we are lucky to get fresh seafood all year round and for more exotic stuff, they are easily imported.

Being fans of Crab Factory in Petaling Jaya, we did not hesitate to head to Cyberjaya when we heard that their Crab Hut has opened there.  Located in Shaftsbury Square, Crab Hut has been like a godsend to all the seafood lovers in Cyberjaya ever since they opened their doors late last year.

Crab Hut offers live seafood and for the more exotic stuff, their stocks are sourced from suppliers who blast-freeze their crustaceans, thus ensuring their freshness.

Similar to Crab Factory, the Louisiana Boil with their signature special Creole sauces of blended Cajun spices is the main attraction in Crab Hut.  Diners can choose from their non-spicy Garlic Butter or Zesty Lemon Sauces and the spicy Jamba-Jamba or Southern Bang.

For these 2 sauces, diners can specify their preferred level of heat, from mild to “double death” (only for the courageous!).

Adding on to the signature sauces, Crab Hut is now offering a selection of unique sauces under their  “Comel’s Round the World in 80 Sauces” promotion where 2 new sauces are featured every 3 months.

I was pretty chuffed to see that these sauces are mainly Asian-based, sauces which are familiar and loved by Malaysians.

From February till April, the distinctive sauces are Spicy Plum and Asam Pedas!  We had our fill of crabs cooked in these 2 sauces.  Our mud crabs, spanner crab and brown crab were truly mouth-watering as they were poured out onto the table, coated in the glistening fiery sauces.

The spicy plum was addictive with tinges of sweetness in the sauce while the asam pedas had stronger hints of sourness from the tamarind.

As these sauces are specially concocted, there’s an additional charge of RM5.  I can’t wait to taste the other sauces in the coming months:

May-July: Thai Sambal, Sweet & Sour

August-October: Tom Yum & Curry

November-January: Jackfruit Curry & Lemak Cili Api

Crab Hut has also expanded the menu to include popular items and some of the new signatures are their Fried Jambalaya (RM25.90) and Stuffed Crabs (RM26.90).

The fried jambalaya, like a miniature paella of rice and seafood scented with saffron will satisfy most rice lovers for sure.  Deep-fried stuffed crab is good news to those who are too lazy to crack crab shells themselves.

If you are a fan of shellfish, then Crab Hut’s Japanese Hamaguri Clams (RM26/300g) are a must-order.  These clams are absolutely delicious – their meat are thicker,  sweeter and more succulent than regular clams, trust me.  The next time I’m at Crab Hut, I’ll have a kilo of these!

We were quite over-the-moon when we saw Salmon Sashimi (RM32) on Crab Hut’s menu.  Just look at these … (enough said).

Now, if you happen to be in Cyberjaya in the afternoon and craving for seafood, head on over to Crab Hut because they have these fantastic offers for their “Happy Hour Specials” from 3pm-5pm Mondays to Thursdays:

Combo bags (inclusive of corn, chicken sausage, potato and white rice) of Mussels + Prawns (RM37), Yabbies + Prawns (RM42) and Crab + Prawns (RM47).  But please note dining has to be completed by 5pm!
