Arson at I-City’s wax museum; three suspects sought for questioning

It might not be quite a Madame Tussaud’s just yet, but that’s no reason to try to burn down Malaysia’s first wax museum.

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage revealed three people breaking into the Red Carpet wax museum in I-City, Shah Alam, and setting part of the exhibits therein on fire last Wednesday.

I-Berhad information manager Tang Soke Cheng said 10 exhibits were destroyed as a result of the act of arson.

She said the footage depicting the three suspects’ actions had been passed to the police.

“As I-City is one of the recommended destinations to visit during Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2014, this act of sabotage is of upmost concern to the country.”

She said I-City’s auxiliary police team would help Selangor police to prevent a recurrence of the incident.

The museum will remain open, though the main exhibition area will be closed to the public for repairs.

District police Criminal Investigation Department chief Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said police had classified the case as arson.
