Collectible toys shop staff tells a disturbing tale about an old man and an anime figurine

For the many of us who’ve worked in the service industry at some point of time in our lives, we’ve all learnt one universal truth — the customer is not always right. In fact, they can be sibei jia lat, sibei terok

Thus the creation of damnTerok.com, a site where folks can confess their most ridiculous (but sadly true — or so they claim) experiences with serving/servicing/attending to customers and clients. While some of the stories sent in can be hilarious, or dark, or even downright awful, one recent anecdote stands out as a combination of all three.

It’s told by a sales assistant at an unnamed collectible toys outlet, where they stock Bishōjo (Japanese term for beautiful young girls at the cusp of adolescence) figurines. Apparently, an elderly man walked into the shop, grabbed an especially provocative one off the shelf and brought it to the counter. We’ll let the sales assistant tell the rest

So anyway, this uncle took this $200-over Bishōjo statue and stumbled over to the counter. He smiled lecherously at my female colleague (she told me this afterward) and asked, “This one can play wan ah?”

I swear, the whole shop comprising of 4 other colleagues would’ve done the best ‘mannequin challenge’ ever at that moment when we heard his question. Nobody knew how to give him an answer. Finally my female colleague sheepishly replied “Uhh… usually people buy to collect and display.”

He chuckled a little, stroked his chin and asked “So this one put battery can move one ah?” To which my colleague replied “Uhh… no uncle….. Cannot.”

The man buggered off soon after. Appropriately, the staff purged clean any bodily fluids (or worse) presumably left by the creepy man on the counter and the toy with Dettol. If we had been in their shoes, we’d set fire to the figurine in question for a total cleanse just in case, and leave it at that.

Have a laugh at the rest of the stories on the site, and then reflect in misery that these ludicrous people actually exist in real life.
