Wealth intelligence firm Wealth-X has released a list of the richest individuals under 35, with Facebook co-founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg taking the top spot.
According to Wealth-X’s rankings, Zuckerberg boasts a self-made fortune of USD41.6 billion (HKD322.50 billion), far ahead of his rivals in second and third place: fellow Facebook co-founders Dustin Moskovitz (who claimed second place on the list with an estimated net worth of USD9.3 billion, or HKD72.10 billion) and Eduardo Saverin (who ranks fourth with an estimated net worth of USD5.3 billion, or HKD41.09 billion).
The ranking also revealed that 11 of the world’s top 20 wealthiest individuals under the age of 35 are from the US, while three are from China (including one from Hong Kong, Adrian Cheng) and another three are from Switzerland.
Cheng, 34, who has a net worth of USD1.4 billion (HKD10.85 billion), is number 20 on the list. He is the executive vice chairman of the Hong Kong-based property development company New World Development, according to Business Insider. He’s also the founder of the non-profit K11 Art Foundation, and is on the board of Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group, Modern Media Holdings, and Giordano International.
The youngest individual on the list is Snapchat chief executive Evan Spiegel, who at the age of 25 has already amassed a personal fortune of USD1.9 billion, with Huiyan Yang, the 34-year-old vice chairman of Chinese real estate developer Country Garden Holdings, taking her place as the richest woman on the list, with an estimated net worth of USD5.9 billion.
