A bunch of people are going to come back from work today and find their bikes have been nicked. That’s because the government has been nicking bikes – exclusively on the bridge at Exit B of Sheung Shui MTR Station.
If you parked up there this morning, you have our sympathies.
The triple-pronged operation between the North District Office, the Tai Po District Police Force and the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (?) saw dozens of bicycles seized this morning.
This is obviously the next big thing on Hong Kong’s agenda now the jaywalking crackdown is over.
The scheme, which had apparently been well advertised – although clearly not to those who left their bikes there this morning – cleared all vehicles deemed to be causing an obstruction and posing a threat to other cyclists and pedestrians.
The Tai Po District Police said they may consider follow up actions, so on you head be it if you decide to go down the station and plead for the return of your two-wheeled buddy.
