Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock or you’ve got tonnes of cash to splash, you’ll know that Airbnb is the new and improved version of Couchsurfing, allowing thrifty travellers to stay in members’ homes all over the world for very competitive rates. While most only take advantage of the service when on holiday, however, one man, who clearly doesn’t mind living out of a suitcase, has done it for almost a year, and only in Hong Kong!

Kevin Lynch began the project after landing a new job in the Fragrant Harbour and finding himself without immediate accommodation. Since being introduced to the wonders of Airbnb, he challenged himself to share his weird and wonderful sleeping arrangements via Instagram (@yearbnb) and Tumblr for an entire year, and committed to staying in a different area each time he moved.

Bunking down next to cats on boats, spiders in tee-pees and cockroaches in Kowloon city, it looks like his experience so far has been a rocky, but memorable, ride! Kevin only has a month to go, so follow him to see if he makes it out alive!
