Woman’s hair caught in MTR doors, delays train

Although cramming onto a packed train is part of Hong Kong culture, it can be dangerous and a nuisance — just look at this.

Yesterday morning at 8:30am, a woman was rushing onto a train at Tseung Kwan O station yesterday, just as the doors were closing, and her long hair got caught in both the train doors and the outer screen doors.

Luckily, a likely tragedy was prevented when a staff member pulled the emergency lever to stop the train. The staff member then pried open the doors to free the woman. It goes without saying that commuters were pretty unhappy about the eight-minute delay during rush hour.

Remember: the beep-beep-beep sound of closing doors is not a signal to run for it, but a signal to let the train go!
