In what could be among the most barefaced and hilarious attempts to feign victimhood in a phoney accident, a woman has been caught on dash cam in Kowloon Tong hurling herself into a car after it halted to let her pass.

Although the woman’s antics didn’t appear to include asking for cash — perhaps things didn’t go to plan — there’s seemingly little else to explain her actions other than an attempted scam.

In the short video posted online, the woman, wheeling a suitcase, can be seen preparing to cross the road via a pedestrian crossing.

As the car approaches, however, she changes direction and, picking up speed, begins waddling toward the windshield.

Ignoring the sounds of the car horn, she then bumps into the bonnet before disappearing from view.

It is not clear what happened after the encounter, but the video — which is dated March 9 but only appeared online this afternoon — has been viewed thousands of times by many amused netizens.

Most either complimented or slammed her acting chops — “she’s not going to get a call from Hollywood any time soon'” said one.

Some suggested she may want to avoid a car with a dash cam the next time she tried a such a stunt.

Others, however, wanted to know if the driver had contacted the police though, according to news website Stand News, officers are unaware if a complaint about the incident has been made.

According to the website, many netizens likened the video to the “fake car accidents” that sometimes happen in the mainland where “victims” extort money from innocent motorists by throwing themselves in front of vehicles and demanding compensation.

Now relatively widespread, dash cams, an internet search will quickly reveal, have regularly captured such antics in several countries, including these entertaining examples compiled by Gizmodo.
