A 53-year-old woman was arrested yesterday after she allegedly threw drain cleaner onto her husband, aged 57. The couple were arguing about the man’s suspected infidelities in their Shek Lei Estate home in Kwai Chung, reports Apple Daily.

The man, a construction worker surnamed Ye, is now in critical condition. The woman, an office cleaner surnamed Wong, is currently in stable condition, while her son was treated and released on the same day for burns on his foot.

The couple’s son, a teenager, reportedly told his mother that the husband was often spending time with a woman that he had hired to help conduct renovation work: the two were seen holding hands, playing cards, and the woman sometimes brought the man home-cooked soup.

Sounds very racey indeed!

The wife and her husband often got into arguments, with the police forced to intervene at least five times in the past – in one case, a knife was involved, Apple Daily reports.

Yesterday morning at around 6am, the couple got into an argument, and in a fit of rage the woman allegedly threw drain cleaner fluid onto her husband.

All three were sent to hospital, and she was arrested that evening.

The couple had previously been seen by a social worker from the social welfare department’s family and child protective services, but they had missed their scheduled meeting this month.
