Woman slammed for Facebook post urging a ban on maids at her building’s barbecue pits

A seemingly anti-social and xenophobic woman living on a private residential estate has plonked herself at the centre of criticism and controversy after ranting on Facebook about how maids should be banned from her building’s barbecue area.

The woman, surnamed Lau, posted in the Ma Wan/ Park Island Facebook group:

“I strongly oppose maids using the facilities in our clubhouse.”

“They booked all the barbecue facilities next to mine and were having a lot of fun… making me extremely unhappy.”

On these grounds, Lau suggested that the estate’s management ban the maids from using the facilities.

Thankfully, her comments didn’t go down too well with others in the group, whose mood presumably isn’t negatively effected by seeing people enjoying themselves.

Some residents accused her of racial discrimination, pointing out at the maids have a right to use the barbecue pits as they live in the building with their employers.

Rigidly unashamed, however, Lau replied: “I really don’t like to use the clubhouse facilities at the same time as maids. So what? Got a problem? If you guys like it, it’s your choice! My neighbour knows that I live alone and very simply.”

Wow. Really? We’ve no idea how this woman ended up alone.
