A Hong Kong woman bought a Xiaomi mobile phone, which is not available in Hong Kong, online for RMB340, but when it arrived, she discovered only an empty Xiaomi box. There was a user manual inside but no phone. She complained to the seller, Tmall.com under Alibaba, but received no response for two weeks.
Lawyers said that this is a difficult matter to pursue from Hong Kong since it involves a mainland seller, and can only be resolved via the retailer.
So beware when buying from mainland websites!
