A Hong Kong couple’s loud and, at times, physical public argument has gone viral after netizens ridiculed the man’s repeated shouts of “I need to go to work!” and “Are you done being crazy?” (complete with a colourful array of profanities).
The woman had apparently taken her boyfriend’s phone and refused to let him go to work, leading to his exasperated and frankly ear-splitting cries of “I need to pay rent! Do I not need to eat? Can I not live?” in an unidentified Hong Kong shopping centre.
The woman, who covers her boyfriend’s mouth at one point, takes to body-slamming him into a wall several times, while firmly grabbing hold of his arm. Many netizens have commented on the physical disparity between the two, saying the approximately 5 ft.10 woman would have restrained the slim, short man with ease.
The woman’s comparatively hushed voice results in the argument playing like a one-sided phone conversation, but the man’s incredulity and sheer volume more than makes up for it. “I don’t care for you? When have you ever cared for me?!” he wails.
At one point, the man alarmingly screams “I will commit suicide!”, which we sincerely hope was just a poorly thought out attempt to escape confrontation, rather than a real threat.
During the clip, none of the many passersby attempt to intervene, and according to Headline Daily, nobody called the police. The couple has yet to be identified.
