In a protocol-defying feat that even our chief executive would probably struggle to top, a 21-year-old woman somehow managed to pass two different security checks at Hong Kong International Airport without a ticket and nearly boarded a flight to Korea before being escorted away.
At around 11:45pm yesterday evening, a security guard reported seeing a “suspicious-looking” woman at a boarding gate, apparently trying to board a flight to Seoul, Oriental Daily reports.
Police officers shortly arrived at the scene, and following the woman’s inability to produce a valid boarding pass, escorted her away.
The 21-year-old is reported to be a Cantonese-speaking HKID holder. Initial investigations reportedly show that she concealed herself in a tour group, and walked into the restricted area while airport security staff were checking another passenger’s boarding pass and passport.
The attempted stowaway then allegedly passed immigration checks by using her identity card and was waiting to board a flight to Seoul when the security guard noticed her.
