Woman narrowly escapes death on busy Sai Kung road

We’ve all looked at a road of fast-moving traffic, thought “yeah, I can make it”, and then made a run for it. So did this woman in Sai Kung, who escaped death by nanoseconds.

Dash cam footage from a car driving through the village of Ho Chung yesterday morning shows a woman with a white top, black trousers, and a backpack signalling a car to stop as she crosses one lane with slow moving traffic.

Seeing that the next lane is full of fast-moving traffic, she decides to make a run for it. However, she trips, landing in the path of a white car that swerves and stops just in time, narrowly missing her head.

The woman then gets up, waves to the driver to apologise, and continues walking.

The video was initially posted on a Facebook this morning, and has received more than 1,500 reactions (varying from awe to horror) from viewers, who either praised the driver (“his reaction time was so fast!”) or criticised the pedestrian (“lady, just go the long way to work next time”).
