A local woman appeared in court yesterday after being charged with indecently assaulting her boyfriend’s 10-year-old son by licking his ear, touching his chest, and putting her hand down his pants.

The woman, a 39-year-old insurance broker identified only as LYL in public records, pleaded not guilty to one count of indecent assault during her appearance at West Kowloon Magistrates’ Court, Apple Daily reports.

Prosecutors played a pre-recorded video interview that authorities conducted with the victim, identified as X, wherein the boy said that his parents divorced when he was five, and that LYL moved in with the family two years ago, shortly after she started dating his father.

X said the alleged indecent assault took place at the family’s village home in Tuen Mun on February 4, when LYL took him to his bedroom under the pretext of discussing family affairs.

He recalled that LYL was wearing a bathrobe, and that she seemed drunk at the time.

X says that the woman then put her arms around him and said: “When you’re older, you’re gonna get married and have sex with a woman,” then proceeded to lick his ear, touch his chest, and put her hand down his pants to touch his genitals.

He said that the assault lasted about 10 seconds.

The following day, X then told his classmates and social workers what had happened. According to Apple Daily reports, X’s classmates teased him about the incident.

In the same video interview, X said that previously, he had felt that LYL treated him like her own son, but since the incident, he cannot see her the same way anymore — and wants to leave the house immediately.

Lawyers representing the defendant refuted X’s claims, saying that LYL only tickled him for fun, had only kissed him once that night, and that X had exaggerated the events of that evening because he was unhappy at home and wished to live with his birth mom instead.

LYL’s lawyers went on to suggest that the reason for the boy’s unhappiness was caused by a recent change at home, as his father had recently gotten a promotion at work and had therefore been spending less time with the family — that, and that LYL forgot to give him pocket money so that X could buy breakfast one morning.

The case has been adjourned until January 3.
