Two male drivers have been arrested after a woman died yesterday in a fatal collision that was caught on dash cam.
Forty-eight-year-old Tang Siu-fong, was rushed to Tin Shui Wai Hospital with serious head injuries in an unconscious state, but was declared dead at 2:46pm.
According to Apple Daily, Tang — who had lost her leg following a motorcycle accident 22 years ago — was driving her mother to her home in Tuen Mun via the Yuen Long Highway at about 1:40pm yesterday, when she rear-ended a van driven by a 44-year-old man surnamed Kwok.
Both drivers got out of the vehicle to inspect the damage for a few minutes, and were preparing to get back into their cars.
Suddenly, a 44A minibus from Sheung Shui to Tuen Mun came along, and rammed into Tang, throwing her onto the middle lane of the highway. Her prosthetic leg also came off during the collision.
Video of the incident, which some readers might find distressing, shows the minibus swerving left to try to avoid Tang.
Police arrested the 63-year-old minibus driver, surnamed Lam, on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death. He was later released on bail pending further inquiries, and is required to report back to police in early May.
Apple Daily also reported that Kwok was arrested for dangerous driving and misleading police officers, and is being detained for further questioning.
