A woman appeared in court today, days after she was arrested for holding up traffic because she was handing out cash to pedestrians and drivers in Sham Shui Po.

Cheng Zi-kei, 19, was charged with one count disorder in a public place during her appearance at West Kowloon Magistrates’ Court today, Ming Pao reports.

She was not required to enter a plea, but the magistrate approved Cheng’s application for bail and adjourned the case to February 1.

She was  released on HK$10,000 (US$1,280) bail, must report to Tung Chung police station three days a week, and must hand over all her travel documents.

Cheng was arrested after she was spotted waving some HK$1,000 (US$128) notes at the intersection between Nam Cheong Street and Yu Chau Street on Sunday afternoon, the same day that Wong Ching-kit — the cryptocurrency promoter who was arrested for making it rain in Sham Shui Po on Saturday — did a walkabout in the same area offering food vouchers.

Local media reports that Cheng is also the girlfriend of another internet personality called Lam Hak-lam — who was previously referred to as the “Nicholas Tse of Victoria Park” because of his resemblance to the entertainer-turned chef — and no goes by the name “Dragon Heart.”

Wong, who was on his way into Sham Shui Po at the time, live-streamed the encounter with Cheng, where she was seen trying to give him HK$4,000 (US$511).

In the video, Cheng can be heard saying that she wants to give Wong all HK$4,000, and that she’s a fan of Dragon Heart.

According to a video report by on on.cc, Lam was also spotted in Sham Shui Po in same area where Wong was handing out the free food vouchers.

When Lam was asked to respond to the incident involving Cheng, Lam responded: “If the president [chief executive] can give money to beggars, why she give money to public it’s illegal?”

Lam was referring to an incident during the the 2017 chief executive elections when then candidate Carrie Lam was under fire for giving HK$500 to a female beggar during the election campaign.

According to HKFP, local outlets interviewed the beggar, who revealed that she arrived in Hong Kong from the mainland two days prior, and was brought into the city against her wishes.
