A woman was suspected for using counterfeit bank notes when she tried to deposit 39 HK$1,000 banknotes, 19 of which were found to be fake, at the bank.
The bank teller at the Canton Road branch of Bank of China (Hong Kong) was suspicious of the notes being fake so alerted the police, reports The Standard.
Earlier this week, fake HK$500 notes were being used in the city.
