Woman allegedly responsible for abusing Indonesian helper arrested

Reports say that the police have detained the female employer believed to be responsible for abusing and torturing Indonesian helper, Erwiana.

It’s revealed that the woman arrested was on her way to Bangkok but was stopped from leaving Hong Kong, police had put her on the stop list, when a second maid filed an abuse report against her over the weekend.

The police will provide more details on the arrest and detainment at a briefing later.

The Hong Kong Chief Executive, Leung Chun-ying, told the RTHK that the Hong Kong government is greatly concerned about the case. He also said that violence against anyone in the community will not be tolerated.
