Woman, 74, dies after being knocked from bicycle by private car in Tseung Kwan O

Hong Kong police are appealing for witnesses following the death of a 74-year-old woman who was knocked off her bicycle by a private car.

The Kowloon East Special Investigation Team released information today on the accident, which occurred on July 1 in Tseung Kwan O.

At around 6pm on that day, a private car driven by a 32-year-old man collided with the woman’s bicycle at the roundabout linking Chiu Shun Road to Po Ning Road.

The woman suffered limb and head injuries and was rushed to Tseung Kwan O Hospital in a conscious state. She later lost consciousness and was transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.

There, she was certified dead at 12:33am on July 5.

The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and bailed pending further enquiries. He is due to report back to the police in mid-July.
