A 44-year-old woman was pronounced dead at United Christian Hospital after reportedly getting hit by a wheel from a red minibus this morning.
The woman, surnamed Lin, suffered serious head injuries after getting struck by a wheel at around 9:40am on Kwun Tong Road in Ngau Tau Kok, reports Apple Daily.
She was standing on the pavement outside of Millenium City.
“Initial investigation showed the wheel hit the woman on the pavement and then came to a stop. It ran for about 100 metres,” senior police inspector Cheng King-man told the SCMP.
The driver was arrested on the suspicion of dangerous driving causing death.
According to an expert interviewed by Apple Daily, the wheel may have gotten loose after screws broke, which may be due to negligence on the part of maintenance staff.
The deceased is survived by three daughters.
