Wild boar euthanised after falling 8m down slope in Tai Hang

A wild boar was euthanised yesterday after it was found with severe injuries near the Lai Tak Tsuen housing estate in Tai Hang.

The one-metre-long juvenile male boar, unable to stand, was reported to police by passersby at 7am, according to Apple Daily.

The poor thing had tried so hard to get up that it left a perfect circle of blood around its body, eventually exhausting itself to the point that it could no longer move.

Police suspect that the animal had fallen from the hillside while foraging for food, landing on the footpath eight metres below.

Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department staff arrived to the scene at around 9am, concluding that the boar was too injured to save.

It was ultimately put down.
