A 53-year-old widow who went missing on Saturday after telling her son she was going hiking has been found hanging in Lion Rock Country Park.
Tong Choi-fung left her flat in the nearby Ching Yi Housing estate at 7:50am on Saturday, but never returned home.
Her son, in his 20s according to the SCMP, raised the alarm at 9:30pm after several failed attempts to contact his mother.
Various search teams, including one composed of members of the Hong Kong Emerald Hiking Team, of which Tong was a member, were deployed on Sunday to no avail.
The woman’s body was found at around 10:30am this morning hanging along one of the hiking trials.
