You can’t outrun the past — quite literally, in fact, if the case of a speeding supercar owner is any indication.
Police today arrested a 36-year-old man who was behind the wheel of a white Ferrari that was spotted roaring down a busy highway only to find that he was actually wanted on a previous charge.
Dash cam footage published by on.cc shows the Ferrari 458 Italia doing 170kph — at least twice the speed limit — on Tuen Mun Road near Sham Tseng this morning.
The car was heading towards Tuen Mun and was pulled over by police at around 8am.
Police arrested the driver, a businessman surnamed Choi, for dangerous driving. He was taken to the police station, but was released on bail and has to report to the police station in late March, on.cc reports.
However, as Choi was being processed, it came to light that the was actually wanted for failing to appear in court over a (wait for it) previous traffic offense earlier this year, the South China Morning Post reports.
Choi’s vehicle was taken to the Tai Lam Chung Police Vehicle Pound in Tuen Mun.
On.cc, citing information from the Transport Department, reports the vehicle was bought by a local company for more than HK$3.5 million (US$446,000) in 2012.
