Sweet-toothed shoppers at Pacific Place got a nasty shock yesterday afternoon when a large rat was seen climbing up the glass exterior of a dessert shop display case.
A witness who lived to tell the tail told Apple Daily that the incident occurred at around 5pm, at the 2/3 Dolci shop on mall’s first floor. Footage shows the rodent first running along a railing a few metres away from the shop, before darting inside and scurrying up a glass case containing delicate desserts.
So much for the stereotype about mice and rats only liking cheese!
The sweet shop’s staff quickly called security guards, who hastily closed the shop gate to look for the rat.
A spokesperson for Pacific Place told Apple Daily that they were “very concerned”, and said the shop was being thoroughly cleaned and disinfected during its temporary closure. A pest control company was called to examine the scene and neighbouring shops and restaurants have also been notified.
The spokesperson stressed that the Admi-rat-y mall has thorough daily cleanings and said that a “full investigation” into the incident would be conducted.
