Everyone’s heard of putting clingfilm on the toilet seat, but one Hongkonger took it way further on Tuesday evening by surrounding (or Saran-ding?) a Mercedes with the sticky material.
According to Apple Daily, the owner of the Mercedes-Benz, a 54-year-old man surnamed Ho, had been parking his car in a leased space at Fung Fai Terrace in Happy Valley.
Ho reportedly does not reside at Fung Fai Terrace, but had recently rented the space through a property agent as he works in a nearby hospital. He claims to have confirmed his allotted space based on a floor plan of the carpark.
However, when he attempted to return home after work on Tuesday, he found his Merc giftwrapped and glistening, which is really the nicest way to say that he got Punk’d.
Upon finding the car, we at Coconuts HK dearly hope that its owner channelled the seminal genius of Captain Blackadder by saying, “We’re in the stickiest situation since sticky the stick insect got stuck on a sticky bun,” but that’s unlikely.
Police were notified of the prank, and treated it as a case of “mischief”, as there was no damage done to the car.
Ho, who apparently doesn’t mind a little clinginess, returned to park his car in the same spot the next day, at which point he was told that the space belonged to somebody else.
However, the spot’s apparent rightful owner denied that he had anything to do with the prank.
After all that fuss, it appears that Ho had actually read the floor plan wrong and rented a completely different space in the parking lot, which is slightly concerning, given that he works in a hospital. One can only hope that his job doesn’t provide access to any sharp instruments.
