Princess Margaret hospital, where the toddler was admitted for isolation
A two-year-old toddler who possibly contracted H7N9 and isolated had been grabbed out of isolation by his weeping father who was originally promised an isolation room for the family, and then retracted by hospital authorities.
The couple’s 18-month-old daughter tested positive for H7N9 after being released from the hospital, during which time she shared a room with her older brother and may possibly have infected him. She is now in isolation. The blunder apparently happened because of a miscommunication between the testing lab and doctors.
The mother found her two-year-old son tied to his crib because of struggling, and the family wept in front of crowds of reporters, unhappy about the hospital’s procedures and keeping the family apart. What a tragedy.
