Watch Goku from Dragon Ball cloud surf down Mong Kok street in style (VIDEO)

Any Chinese person worth their salt knows Wu Cheng’en’s epic Journey to the West. It’s got everything: fantastical characters lifted from folk mythology, untouchable divine food and a long, laborious pilgrimage. It’s basically our Odyssey.

Among the countless film and TV adaptations, one of the most famous derivatives of Journey to the West is none other than Japanese manga series Dragon Ball. Sun Wukong, the Monkey King from Journey to the West has been openly acknowledged as the basis (and namesake) for Dragon Ball‘s main character, Goku. Goku even has a flying nimbus, just like Sun Wukong.

Understandably, this video of a Goku impersonator gliding down a street in Mong Kok on his flying nimbus has tickled many a Hongkonger:

Coincidentally, we recently shared an old video of a man skating down another Mong Kok street on a pallet jack, seemingly without a care in the world (must be the secret to that bum wiggle!) and compared it to Casey Neistat’s video of Aladdin flying through New York on his magic carpet.

Upon review, we think this Goku impersonator may actually take the cake as HK’s answer to the Aladdin prank, since it incorporates a beloved homage to a beloved national treasure.

Now, does anyone know where we can get our hands on a flying cloud?
