Just two nights after the mainland production “Journey to the West” TV series aired on TVB, scores of viewers complained about how “fake” and awful the series was and demanded TVB to stop broadcasting such garbage.
The RMB$1 billion production, created in 2011 and aired during primetime, was already unpopular before it began showing on TVB because it was outdated, according to Apple Daily. Viewers complained that the acting was poor, the costumes were bad, and that the monsters were too scary looking for children to watch. Some even wrote to the Communications Authority, demanding that the series be pulled from TVB.
