The Vietnamese owner of a Hong Kong food stall accused of butchering a dog has denied the allegations and threatened to sue both the public and the media saying otherwise.
This week a video emerged which its creator, a man surnamed Heung, claims shows a man butchering a dog outside a Sham Shui Po grocery shop.
Le Thi Dung, a co-owner of the Vietnamese family-owned store, has however insisted that they did not know the man who was filmed.
She did admit lending the butcher a colander, the same one Heung claims he saw a dog’s head in.
“The alley does not belong to anyone, and it’s not our business what others do there,” Le told the SCMP, adding that the allegations have had an adverse affect on business.
“A week ago you could see people queuing for our spring rolls, but ever since the news reports came out, all customers are gone.”
Le said she has asked her lawyers to sue both Heung and Apple Daily, who first reported the story.
On Saturday, police removed a chopping board, a knife and meat samples from the shop and arrested another owner, a 49-year-old woman surnamed Lai.
She has been released on bail and police say investigations are still ongoing.
