A 35-year-old Vietnamese man was jailed yesterday for 15 months for entering and working in Hong Kong illegally and for using a forged HKID card. Meanwhile, 14-year-olds continue to go clubbing in LKF with their poorly Photoshopped fakes with impunity.
The man, who was working as a dishwasher in a restaurant kitchen, was arrested on Monday during an Immigration Department anti-illegal-employment operation, according to a government statement.
A copy of a Hong Kong ID card, which had his photo on it, was seized. The arrestee later admitted that he had entered Hong Kong in August of last year and had obtained a forged HKID card in order to find a job.
He also admitted to showing the forged identity card during his job interview at the restaurant.
The dishwasher was charged with landing and remaining in Hong Kong unlawfully as well as using a forged HKID. He was sentenced to 15 months for each charge, which are to run concurrently, at Sha Tin Magistrates’ Courts.
