VIDEO: The world’s fastest rope skipper is from Hong Kong, and he’s competing this weekend

Hong Kong’s athletic accolades are few on the world stage, which makes 19-year-old Timothy Ho’s achievements even more noteworthy. Ho, who started rope skipping in P2, is not just the fastest rope skipper in the city. He’s the fastest in the world. He set the world record at the 2012 world championships in Florida, USA with 500 skips in three minutes, reports the SCMP.

He achieved his personal record of 530 skips in three minutes at a local competition late last year, and he hopes to repeat that performance at the world championships hosted in Hong Kong this weekend. He told the SCMP that he’s not in peak form right now, but hopes to at least get in 520 skips before the clock’s up, which still breaks his own record.
