Police were called yesterday after a 58-year-old taxi driver flipped out and went on a Hulk-like rage rampage after a minibus clipped his taxi in Mong Kok.
To put it more poetically: his taxi dented, the discontented driver vented. The passengers were tormented.
Well at least they weren’t happy, as the driver, surnamed Chan, boarded the bus, banged the windows and kicked the door in a frenzy of anger before retrieving a car jack from his boot and hammering the side of the bus, all the while punctuating his onslaught with shouting and cursing.
“Don’t be so impulsive uncle, everyone else needs to go to work, too,” one woman can be heard shouting in the video.
According to Apple Daily, Chan lost control of his impulses after a minor collision with the bus on Prince Edward Road West at about 11:00am.
Chan had been trying to pull out of the slow lane. After letting one minibus pass, he nosed out into the lane. The red-top minibus, driven by a 50-year-old man surnamed Lam, however, failed to let him in and clipped the front of his taxi.
At one point during the rampage, the driver locked the doors, trapping Chan inside the bus. His anger, however, could not be caged.
A clip of the the frenzy, shows Chan prying open a window and leaping out. He failed to stick the landing though, and landed on his ass, which added a bit of comic relief and undermined his menace somewhat.
Police officers arrived at the scene shortly afterwards to arrest Chan on suspicion of criminal damage and common assault. Both drivers were sent to hospital with minor injuries.
This is hardly the first time a taxi driver has been caught on camera losing their cool. In November, a taxi driver pleaded guilty to criminal intimidation and refusing to accept hire of a taxi after he was filmed forcing two passengers, one of them using a walker, out of his vehicle with a metal bar.
