In a video uploaded by legislator Ray Chan, Hong Kong’s first openly gay politician, two middle-aged women are seen berating and ridiculing him for his sexual orientation on the MTR.
The two-minute video has gone viral since it was uploaded on Sunday, amassing 260,000 views at press time.
Though Chan remained silent for the two minutes, he captured the incident on camera.
One of the women (dressed in yellow with sunglasses) shouted at Chan, telling him, “Hong Kong will never be at peace because of you bastards.”
She then went on to make graphic, and scientifically dubitable, observations about Chan.

“Serves you right that you don’t have a dick,” she ranted. “It’s only three inches long. Get down on your ass and get fucked.”
The other woman agreed, telling Chan: “You have no shame. You’re on TV barking like a mad dog.”
A bystander tried to tell the women to mind their language, reminding them that there were children on the passenger train.
The woman in yellow then rationalised her behavior: “He’s a rubbish legislator. I’m a taxpayer, I have the right to yell at him,” she said.
Chan, a member of the People Power party, made history when he was elected in 2012 as the city’s first openly gay legislator, representing New Territories East.
Netizens were quick to defend Chan and criticise the two women in the video. Some even noted that the pair broke MTR’s regulations with their foul language and disruptive behavior.
