VIDEO: Hong Kong lawmaker Regina Ip sent flying by New Year dragon

There’s nothing like a bit of slapstick, especially if the victim is a politician on a self-promotion crusade.

Widely disliked Hong Kong lawmaker Regina Ip enjoyed a rather rough start to the Lunar New Year after being sent flying by a dragon dancer at Che Kung Temple in Sha Tin on Friday.

Ip, who was reportedly attending the fortune telling ritual uninvited, was caught on camera receiving a pretty serious hip-smash by a qilin – a mythical dragon-cross-horse kind of creature, commonly translated into “unicorn” in English.

The Christian, who is being touted by some as Hong Kong’s next leader, is no doubt hoping such rotten luck is not a sign of things to come.

Props for the smooth recovery though, Ip. You sure can take a knock.
