A cough set things right off.
Grossly violating MTR etiquette, a male passenger sparked a train brawl after delivering straight-up splutter in the face of a female fellow commuter.
The instigator, already well offside for wearing a backpack in a rather crowded carriage, had been drawing angry stares from nearby passengers for his loud, obnoxious coughing during the recent ride.
According Headline Daily — which published a video of the spluttering-turned showdown yesterday — the raspy outbursts were so loud they prompted a woman standing in the blast zone to cover her ears.
Subjected to increasingly intense glares, the man, instead of keeping calm, lashed out in defense of himself and his croaky condition, culminating in a cough delivered directly toward woman who, seeking to protect her ears from the noise, had left her face wide open.
Such a blatant breach of decency earned the wrath of fellow passengers and all hell broke loose, as you can see below.
It is not clear from the video at what time or on which line this fracas took place.
According to Headline Daily, police did arrive at the scene to break up the fight.
No one was injured, both parties decided to settle the dispute privately, and the case was classed as “miscellaneous” by officers at the scene.
And so goes another installment of MTR shenanigans, past episodes of which have included “two passengers fight over a seat” and “man bites off fellow commuter’s thumb.”
