In the past, students interested in a career in veterinary medicine needed to seek education abroad, like in the UK or Australia. However, those aspiring to be vets no longer need to study abroad as they can now take veterinary courses at the University of Hong Kong (HKU).
HKU is co-operating with the University of Edinburgh’s Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies to offer a top-up programme in veterinary medicine. HKU biomedical engineering students will be able to study in the University of Edinburgh and obtain degrees from the two universities in seven years time, as well as a professional vet qualification.
There will be ten spots available to year two HKU biomedical engineering students and scholarships will be offered so admitted students need only pay for their usual HKU tuition fee of around HK$42,100.
