Untimely Typhoon: Hong Kong Observatory will consider T8 signal…but probably just overnight

Holding out for a typhoon day tomorrow? In true unaccommodating Hong Kong weather style, it looks like the Observatory may raise the T8 signal… but probably just overnight. Boo!

We all got our hopes up today when classes at nurseries and special schools were suspended before a T3 signal was raised and gusts of 62km/h were recorded at Ngong Ping. Why should the kids have all the fun?

The culprit is is Typhoone Kalmaegi, which has been making its way across the South China Sea since hitting the Philippines this weekend.

At 5pm today the storm was estimated to be just 430 kilometres away.

Come on Kalmaegi, you can do it. Between the hours of 8am and 5pm tomorrow please. Okay, thanks.
