A female domestic helper who allegedly uploaded live footage to Facebook of herself showering, as well as of an elderly woman in the bathroom, was apparently terminated last week and reported to the Immigrations Department, according to the Hong Kong Economic Times.
The unnamed domestic helper, whose alleged videos were seen on Facebook on Thursday Oct. 6, was reportedly fired by the family of the unidentified elderly woman, who was apparently under her care. They lodged a complaint with the Immigrations Department, the paper said.
The video purportedly shows an elderly woman who seems to have her trousers off, sitting on a raised toilet seat designed for those with limited mobility.
The incident has been widely reported by local media.
The convenor of local concern group Task Force on Foreign Helper’s Problems, Tsui Hiu-tung, told local media that she had been in touch with the elderly woman’s family. The domestic helper implicated has since left Hong Kong, she said.
Tsui told local media that the domestic helper in question is aware of the matter becoming public and has deleted the footage. She said the domestic helper has also written a post on Facebook addressing the incident, apparently saying that she thought it was a “small mistake”.
