The Hong Kong Observatory shows that typhoon Krosa may affect Hong Kong this weekend.
The Observatory’s forecast track shows that Krosa will upgrade to a severe storm on Friday, and will be just 800km away from the city. When this happens, the observatory will hoist a No 1 alert.
Saturday forecasts Krosa to be 400km away from Hong Kong and will pack winds of 120km/h.
There have been three cyclone warnings in the month of November in the past 30 years, in 2006, 2000 and 1993 – all were weak storms where a No 1 alert was hoisted. The most recent No. 8 typhoon alert hoisted in the month of November was in 1972.
