The Education Bureau has announced that classes at kindergartens and some schools for children with special needs will be suspended for today as Typhoon No. 3 signal is expected to be hoisted within the next couple hours. Squally showers are expected later, and the sea will be rough with swells (so stay away from the shoreline, and stop water skiing if that’s what you’re doing on a Monday).
At noon, the fast-moving Typhoon Kalmaegi was around 530 kilometers south-southeast of Hong Kong, and is expected to move towards western Guangdong and Hainan Island, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.
The Typhoon 1 standby signal and the Very Hot warning are currently in force.
