Authorities are looking for two workers who escaped a fatal fall when a work gondola snapped into two on Tuesday, causing two deaths.
The four workers were carrying out exterior maintenance work at a luxury apartment, Tregunter Towers, at The Peak when the incident occurred.
Reports surfaced yesterday that the two victims of the incident were Vietnamese – a man named Pham and a woman named Vong. One of the two Vietnamese workers killed in the accident may have been an illegal worker and now the two who have narrowly escaped death are missing, and suspected to be illegal workers as well.
Vong’s brother claimed that 45-year-old Vong and her family arrived in Hong Kong illegally in 1982 but now have identity cards.
Pham however, did not show up in records, and the company is still searching for his identity and family.
Authorities are seeking the missing workers for their evidence to find out more about the incident.
